The Embassy of Mexico and the Zaha Cultural Center marked Mexican Children’s Day with the dedication of the “Little Mexican Board,” a new cultural space at the Center’s Ma’in branch designed to promote cultural exchange between Jordan and Mexico.
The “Little Mexican Board” features a permanent mural of photographs inspired by Mexican heritage, nature, and traditional crafts. It will serve as an educational space for children and families, offering a window into Mexico’s cultural diversity. The initiative seeks to raise awareness of Mexico among children visiting the Center and to promote values of cultural openness from an early age.
Children from both Mexico and Jordan attended the event and took part in cultural activities, including a screening of Mexican children’s short films and the traditional breaking of piñatas.
The dedication ceremony was presided over by the Ambassador of Mexico, Jacob Prado, and the Executive Director of the Zaha Cultural Center, Rania Subeih. The event was attended by Hassan Al-Jbour, Governor of Madaba Governorate; Haytham Jwienat, Chairman of the Greater Madaba Municipality Committee; Malek Abu Alghanam, Director of Ma’in District; Hussam Odeh, President of the Madaba Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Madaba Governorate Council Committee; and Magdi Al-Yacoub, former member of parliament. Other local officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and media representatives were also present. The gathering highlighted the importance of joint cultural initiatives.
The event forms part of a broader series of cultural activities aimed at introducing Jordanian families and children to Mexican heritage while strengthening ties between the two nations.
