Jordan trade balance deficit down by 15.3% in 2020

Jordan’s trade balance deficit for the first quarter of 2020 dropped to JD1.627 billion, a decrease by 15.3 per cent compared to the figure recorded at the end of the same period last year.
According to a report on Sunday from the Department of Statistics on foreign trade in Jordan, the value of total exports increased by 2.3 per cent to reach nearly JD1.3 billion in 2020, compared with the same period in 2019.
“The national exports were valued at JD1.193 billion, posting a 7.5 per cent increase compared to the figure recorded in the same period of the previous year, while the value of re-exports amounted to JD178 million with a drop by 22.8 per cent for the same period in 2019,” the report stated.
As for the imports, the value amounted to JD3 billion, a decrease by 8.1 per cent compared with 2019.
