Friday, 24-year-old Palestinian journalist\u00a0Zaina Halawani appeared in Israeli Occupation court with ankle shackles, much to the suprise and dismay of activists.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Halawani, along with her colleague Wahbi Makiya, were arrested while covering the illegal evictions in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Occupied East Jerusalem last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were subsequently placed on ‘administrative detention,’ for five days, a commonplace tactic used within the Israeli Occupation wherein detained persons can be imprisoned without charge for extended periods of time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
