The Secretary General of the Ministry of Health Mahmoud Zureikat announced the launch of a COVID-19 vaccination campaign to vaccinate public sector employees at the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zureikat told Roya that the campaign will start by vaccinating workers in the judicial sector Monday morning, then move on to employees in all other ministries, governmental departments and institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In statements addressed to the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Bisher al-Khasawneh Sunday said strengthening the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 will be the biggest contributor enabling the government to reopen all sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that Jordan has secured 10 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. This will enable the Kingdom to vaccinate approximately 150,000 people on a daily basis, starting May 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Khasawneh pointed out that the daily positive PCR test rate is still high and currently stands around 10.4 percent, which does not allow for the reopening of closed sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the ministry\u2019s official figures indicate that if the government had not imposed lockdowns, an overnight curfew and closures, the number of cases would have increased by up to 250 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Khasawneh stressed that the decisions taken by the government are based on scientific and health evidence and data, and all came after consultations with the National Committee for Epidemics and the National Center for Security and Crisis Management.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
