Interior Minister Mazen al-Faraya said Monday that the government may resort to a total lockdown if things get out of hand. He stressed that gatherings and defense order violations\u00a0during overnight curfew hours are unacceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed that the government is being very clear regarding the gravity of the situation and that there will be no leniency in dealing with those who break the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During an interview with Jordan TV, Faraya said people have the right to express themselves but there are appropriate means to do so, other than demonstrating and gathering during the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faraya explained that this is not about whether or not their the demands are legitimate, but rather whether this is the only way to express their opinions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faraya said anyone over the age of 60 can head to any vaccination center to get vaccinated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He pointed out that ‘China promised Jordan 100,000 doses of the vaccine.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In regards to the decision to have ‘an administrator in every hospital’, he explained that the administrative ruler is the highest executive authority and takes precedence over all state employees. He added that it is that person’s duty to conduct visits and monitor all institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed the need to activate the administrator’s role saying “If I were a governor, I would sit in the hospital.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that nepotism and favoritism in Jordan are widespread, and warned against\u00a0undermining the values of Jordanian society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
