For a third consecutive day, Jordan continues to bake in a blazing heat wave that pushed mercury levels well above annual average by almost 10 degrees Celsius, the Jordan Meteorological Department said in its forecast for Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Jordan Valley, 212 to 400 meters below sea level, and the Red Sea port of Aqaba are set to swelter in scorching weather today and for much of this week with temperatures breaking into the 43-44C vicinity, the meteorologists added.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Excessive heat watches will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday despite a slight drop in mercury levels, with northeasterly to northwesterly moderate winds, the JMD further said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In Amman and other highlands, north and south, daytime mercury levels will range between 38 and 42 degrees.
