The Embassy of Mexico in Jordan held the official ceremony to commemorate the 215th Anniversary of Mexico\u2019s Independence in Amman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was attended by Dr. Nancy Namrouqa, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, representing the Government of Jordan, as well as by a distinguished audience of government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, media representatives, academics, members of the Mexican community, and friends of Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the ceremony, participants commemorated the traditional \u201cGrito de Dolores\u201d (\u201cCry of Dolores\u201d), the historic call by Mexico\u2019s Founding Father, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, that marked the beginning of Mexico\u2019s War of Independence in 1810.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every year on September 15, Mexicans in the country and abroad recreate this symbolic act, paying tribute to the heroes who gave their lives for Mexico\u2019s freedom with the traditional cry \u201c\u00a1Viva M\u00e9xico!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceremony, presided over by the Ambassador of Mexico to Jordan, Mr. Jacob Prado, was held in a festive atmosphere and featured outstanding performances by the \u201cTe Amo M\u00e9xico\u201d Folkloric Ballet and \u201cMariachi Renacimiento.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the Embassy\u2019s broader cultural program, both ensembles also performed in Petra, Aqaba, and Amman in the days leading up to the official Independence commemoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u201cTe Amo M\u00e9xico\u201d Folkloric Ballet is one of Mexico\u2019s foremost dance companies, having performed in more than 40 countries with a repertoire that blends traditional dances from across the country with contemporary creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
