On October 24, the 2024 KOICA Alumni Association of Jordan (KAAJ) Annual Meeting took place in Amman. The event was attended by the Korean Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Mr. Kim Pilwoo, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, H.E. Ms. Lina Annab, the Secretary General of Tourism and Antiquities, Mr. Fadi Balawi and the General Director of the Government Procurement Department, Ms. Hanadi Al Nabulsi, alongside 73 participants from the KOICA Fellowship Program representing various ministries and public institutions.
The meeting was opened by H.E. Ambassador Kim, who highlighted that the friendships and networks built through KOICA’s capacity-building programs are invaluable resources for the relations between Korea and Jordan. He mentioned “Jordan’s greatest resources are its people–smart, hard working, skilled and disciplined,” adding that investing in education and capacity building is the most sustainable path to prosperity. He also reiterated the Korean government’s commitment to further sharing Korea’s experience for Jordan’s socio-economic development.
During the event, six Jordanian officials who had participated in KOICA programs shared their insights from courses related to their respective fields of work. In 2024, KOICA organized ten specialized training programs for Jordanian government officials, aiming to develop their skills, knowledge, and professional capacity to promote human resource development and contribute to national progress.
The meeting concluded with a presentation by the 2024 KAAJ Board members, highlighting their ongoing activities and emphasizing their commitment to improving the well-being of marginalized groups in Jordan.
Since 1991, KOICA has been offering training programs to Jordan as part of its CIAT (Capacity Improvement and Advancement for Tomorrow) initiative, which focuses on building human resource capacity for Jordan’s socio-economic growth.
