Army engages smugglers on northern border, kills 3

border guard unit on Wednesday engaged a group of smugglers after they tried to infiltrate the Kingdom’s border with Syria and killed three of them.
A Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army source said 11 persons were engaged by border guards on the northern frontiers after they tried to cross into the Kingdom from Syria, adding that the encounter was the largest in months.
The source indicated that three of the smugglers were killed by army fire, two arrested while six fled back to Syrian territory, noting that the smugglers left behind weapons, about 1.307 million fenetylline pills (Captagon) and 2,100 pills of pregabalin (sold under the brand name Lyrica).
The source emphasized that the armed forces will not tolerate any smuggling or infiltration attempts.
