Hot, dry air mass to affect Kingdom today

shahennews

The Kingdom on Wednesday will be affected by a hot and dry air mass, pushing temperatures high, and bringing relatively hot weather in the hilly areas and the plains, and blistering conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with northeasterly to northwesterly moderate winds, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom will range between 33 and 30 degrees Celsius, dropping at night to 20C or even 17C in the northern highlands. In the gulf city of Aqaba, it will be much hotter with mercury reaching a high of 40C and a low of 28C.

On Thursday, a further increase in mercury levels is forecast, becoming 7-8 degrees above annual average, so it will be hot in the mountainous areas and the plains, while sweltering weather will prevail in other regions, with clouds at various altitudes and easterly to northeasterly moderate to active winds, blowing dust in the Badia, the JMD said.

As we head into Friday, the heatwave will start to subside, making significant drop in temperatures. Therefore, it will be fair in the hilly areas and the plains, and hot in other parts of the country, with the appearance of clouds at medium and high altitudes, and northwesterly moderate to brisk winds, stirring dust in the desert, the JMD added.
