Korean power plant companies participate in Jordan’s sustainable development

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Korea Electric Power Corporation Group (KEPCO Group), on Thursday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish cooperation to facilitate collaborative activities that are mutually beneficial for supporting the community of Jordan.
In a statement released by KOICA, the agency said that it, as a governmental agency, implements official development assistance (ODA) programs on behalf of the Korean government, and that contributed to the socio-economic development of Jordan with more than 83million dollars through various development programs from 2005 has seized this opportunity to prove that collaboration between public and private sector can contribute to creating core values for each institution, especially both are doing their businesses in Jordan.
KOICA and KEPCO Group plan to focus on supporting the young people and the vulnerable groups including refugees suffering hardships of life from long-term unemployment. Through this MOU, a total of six Jordanian subsidiaries of KEPCO Group in Jordan and KOICA Jordan Office will jointly lead in conducting the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of KEPCO Group and the sustainability of KOICA’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) programs in Jordan, the statement added.
KEPCO is the leading energy group that supply and generate electricity in the world and currently has six power generation subsidiaries, including Korea Southern Power, and KEPCO KPS, which are specialized in maintaining power generation facilities. In Jordan, the KEPCO Group covers about 20% of Jordan’s total power generation capacity. Starting with Qatrana Electric Power Company (373MW) in 2011, Amman Asia Electric Power Company (573MW) which holds Guinness World Record of the world’s largest diesel engine power plant as verified on 23 October 2014, Fujeij Wind Power Company (89.1MW) are now being operated. and the Daehan Wind Power Plant (51.75MW) will be operated on May.
