Indian COVID-19 mutation detected in 17 countries

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the Indian COVID-19 mutation has been detected in “at least 17 countries.”

Over the past few days, this mutated variant has been reported in several European countries including Belgium, Switzerland, Greece and Italy.

After the new strain was discovered, India has been setting new records in terms of new daily COVID-19 cases.

Monday, India recorded 352,991 new coronavirus cases in one day, the highest recorded number in the world so far, in addition to 2,812 deaths.

India ranked fourth on the list of countries worst affected by COVID-19 deaths, with more than a total of 192,000 deaths.
Crematoriums have been operating at full capacity over the past few days, as reported by AFP.
