Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Tuesday said a ministerial committee to develop and improve the public sector’s performance was formed, in response to a Senator’s inquiry.

The committee, which is headed by the premier, is tasked with drawing up policies, programs and projects for the development of the public sector, studying relevant legislation, and approving the outputs of the Higher Committee for the Restructuring of the Governmental Apparatus.

In response to Sentor Haifa al-Najjar’s query, Khasawneh stated that the establishment of the Institutional Performance Development Department, after abolishing the Ministry of Public Sector Development, came to develop the performance of the government apparatus, evaluate and develop government services, and enhance the role of institutional development units in government departments.

He pointed to the public sector development and government services pillar that is listed in the 2021-2024 government Executive Indicative Program, which is implemented according to a specific time frame and clear measurement indicators that the government adheres to.

Khasawneh pointed out that comprehensive planning for government services includes setting priorities, developing a national registry for services, establishing comprehensive centers for government services, in addition to automating services and assessing their implementation on the ground through the Bekhedmetkom platform and unannounced visits to service delivery centers to ensure their improvement.
