Mercury levels on Sunday are expected to rise 10-11 degrees above annual average, bringing hot weather conditions in much of the Kingdom, except in the highlands where it will relatively hot, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

The JMD warned the public of the direct exposure to the sun, and of poor visibility in the Badia areas due to dust.

Temperatures in Amman today will reach a high of 34 degrees Celsius, dropping to 20C at night, while the Gulf of Aqaba will see a high of 39C, dipping to 26C during night hours.

On Monday, a further increase in mercury levels is expected, marking 12-13C higher than seasonal average, so dry and hot conditions will prevail across the country, with southeasterly moderate to brisk winds, the JMD added.

Toward Tuesday, the impact of the relatively hot air mass will subside, as mercury will significantly dip, but they will remain 7-8C above average at this time of the year, the JMD predicted, forecasting fair weather in the hilly areas and the plains, and relatively hot conditions in other regions, with clouds at various altitudes and northwesterly moderate to active winds.
