The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) forecast that temperatures will rise few degrees on Tuesday, so pleasant weather conditions will prevail in the hilly areas and the plains, while it will be warm in the other parts of the country, with clouds at various altitudes and southwesterly to southeasterly moderate winds.
On Wednesday, the Kingdom will be affected by a Khamasini air depression, as mercury will further rise, becoming 8-9 degrees above their annual average and bringing dry, dusty and warm conditions in most regions, with clouds at medium and high altitudes and southwesterly active winds, the JMD said.
The Khamasini depression’s name is derived from khamsin (50) in Arabic, as it occurs during the 50 days from the end of March to 10th of May.
Mercury levels are expected to sharply drop on Thursday as a result of a cold air mass accompanying the Khamasini depression, which will be centered over Syria, the forecasters predicted, noting that dusty conditions will continue to persist with cloudy skies and a chance of spotty showers at night over the northern and central highlands, stretching to cover other areas.
Winds will be northwesterly brisk with strong gust at times, exceeding 60 km/h in some areas, the weather department also expected.
Temperatures in Amman today will reach a high of 21C, dropping to 12C at night, while the Gulf of Aqaba will see a fair 29C, dipping to 17C during night hours.
