Depression to affect Kingdom today

Jordan will be affected on Thursday by a cold and wet air mass accompanied by a depression from Syria, pushing temperatures down and bringing cold and partly cloudy weather conditions with scattered showers in the western parts of the Kingdom, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said.
At night, the weather will turn to be colder with rain in the northern and central highlands, while winds will be westerly active, the JMD added, warning of poor visibility due to fog and dust in the Badia regions, and of slippery roads.
Toward Friday, the impact of the chilly front will deepen and mercury will continue to dip, so biting cold and cloudy skies will prevail with intermittent rain in many regions of the country, the JMD predicted.
Rainfall is expected to become heavier accompanied by thunder and hail at times, causing flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, the meteorologists predicted.
“A mix of rain and snow is forecast over the southern mountain peaks,” the weather department further said, noting that rainfall will gradually taper off at night, with a possibility of fog formation over heights.
On Saturday, mercury levels will slightly rise, but similar chilly and partly cloudy conditions will continue to persist with a chance of light showers in the morning hours over the northern and central highlands, while winds will be southwesterly moderate to brisk at times.
Temperatures in Amman today will be 12 Celsius degrees, dropping to 3C during night hours, while the city of Aqaba will see a high of 22C, sliding into 10C at night.
