A slight rise in mercury levels is expected on Thursday, but chilly weather will prevail in most parts of the Kingdom, except in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba where it will be fair, with low-altitude clouds, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.
Freezing night is also forecast as temperatures will further plummet, mainly in the highlands and the Badia regions, while winds will be southeasterly light, the JMD added.
The weather department warned of poor horizontal visibility due to fog, and of frost and freeze formation in the early morning and late night hours over mountainous areas and the Badia.
Over the next two days, similar weather conditions will continue to persist with southeasterly moderate to brisk winds, the forecasters predicted.
Daytime temperatures expected for today will reach 8 degrees Celsius in Amman, 4C in the northern cities and 5C in southern highlands, dropping to zero, -1 and –2C respectively, while it will be warmer in the Gulf city of Aqaba as maximum mercury will reach 19C sliding down to 9C at night.
