Jordan records 20 COVID deaths, 1,802 infections on Monday

A total of 20 new deaths and 1,802 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was recorded in Jordan on Monday.
With today’s fatalities and infections, the caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 289,748 and 3,778 respectively, since the outbreak began in March, according to a joint Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health daily brief.
Amman saw 741 new infections followed by Irbid 448, Zarqa 133, Balqa 91, Mafraq 81, Karak 72, Madaba 55, Jerash 52, Ajloun 49, Aqaba 39, Ma’an 21 and 20 cases in Tafileh.
The number of cases that required admission to hospitals today stood at 101, while 100 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
According to the brief, the total number of recoveries recorded Monday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 2,547, bringing the total to 264,061 since the outbreak began.
Additionally, the number of cases that are still at hospitals has reached 807, including 117 on ventilators.
Also, the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 252, or 31 percent of the total ICU bed capacity.
With regard to testing, 21,124 tests were conducted Monday, 8.5 percent of which were positive. The total number of tests conducted since March has increased to 3,104,457.
