Fair weather forecast today, drop in temps with showers tomorrow

Alshaheen News

Moderate weather conditions are expected to prevail nationwide with clouds at various altitudes and a chance for showers in different parts of the country, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its forecast for Tuesday.

The department warned of poor visibility due to fog formation, mainly in the highlands and the Badia areas, as well as slippery roads.

The Kingdom will be gradually affected on Wednesday by a depression centered over west of Syria, pushing mercury levels down and bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain at times in various regions, the JMD added.

The rainfall is expected to turn heavy at night accompanied by thunder at times, causing flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, while winds will be westerly moderate to brisk, the department predicted.

Similar cloudy and rainy weather is expected to persist on Thursday with westerly moderate to brisk winds, blowing dust in the desert areas, the JMD further said.

Daytime temperatures expected for today will reach 24 degrees Celsius in Amman, 20 in the northern cities and 21 in the southern highlands, dropping down at night to 13, 10 and 9C respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 30 degrees Celsius and lows standing at 20 degrees at night.
