Health Ministry planns to establish 3 field hospitals in north, center, south Kingdom

 Health Minister, Nazir Obeidat, on Sunday said the ministry planning to establish 3 field hospitals for Covid-19 patients in the north, center and south of the Kingdom.

“The ministry is in the final stages of signing a contract with a private hospital in Amman, and will provide about 200 regular beds and about 40 others for intensive care,” Obeidat said in a press conference held Sunday at the Prime Ministry.

Obaidat indicated that the occupancy rate in hospitals is fair and reassuring, noting that the increase in the number of infections with the coronavirus is expected, “and we must prepare for greater numbers.”

He said that there is an increase in the percentage of positive tests today, as it increased by about 16 percent, and it is subject to further increase.

On the 14-day comprehensive curfew, the Health Minister stressed that the National Epidemiology Committee met with all its members and didn’t recommend a comprehensive curfew for the mentioned period.

On seasonal influenza vaccines, Obeidat said that 180,000 doses have been distributed, and 47,000 doses will be delivered to the private sector after they were agreed upon, pointing out that vaccines will be provided to more than 1.2 million citizens.

The Health Minister called on medical personnel to protect themselves by adhering to all means of prevention, indicating that the ministry will secure all medical supplies and personal protective equipment for working cadres.
