His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday stressed the importance of coordination among state institutions to increase preparedness for weather emergencies during winter.
Chairing a meeting via teleconference, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, King Abdullah urged focusing on areas most affected by severe weather conditions.
Although attention over the past period has centred on COVID-19, His Majesty said measures must also be taken to prepare for winter and learn from previous experiences.
The King cited the tragic Dead Sea flash floods two years ago, stressing that all must cooperate to devise plans and take the necessary measures to protect people’s lives.
For his part, Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh outlined the government’s plans and measures to deal with the upcoming wet season, noting that a coordination mechanism is in place to ensure public safety and safeguard property across the governorates.
Also at the meeting, the concerned officials highlighted plans to handle winter emergencies, including providing institutions with the needed equipment and training.
A number of ministers and senior officials attended the meeting, as well as Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi and Public Security Directorate Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh.
