Royal initiatives: 17 impoverished families in Petra, Shoubak receive new houses

Seventeen underprivileged families in the Shoubak and Petra districts in the Maan governorate Saturday received their new homes as part of royal initiatives to provide decent housing to low-income families across the country.
The initiative for the housing of poor families, which was launched under a royal directive in 2005 and includes all governorates, aims to provide a decent and stable life for the most-needy families that are chosen according to fairness and transparency standards adopted by the Ministry of Social Development.
Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, who heads the committee following up on the implementation of royal initiatives, handed the keys of the new residences to beneficiary families during a ceremony attended by the Ministers of Public Works, Housing and Social Development, and the Maan Governor.
He toured the new fully-furnished housing units, which are constructed according to high engineering and technical specifications.
Issawi told Petra in an interview that His Majesty the King pays utmost attention to improving the quality of life of Jordanians and upgrading the level of services to communities across the country, particularly “segments going through difficult conditions.”
