Ministry urges cooperation with coronavirus contact-tracing

Alshaheen News

Director of Communicable Diseases at the Ministry of Health Hadeel al-Sayeh on Wednesday called on citizens to cooperate with the epidemiological investigation teams in tracking down and testing contacts of people infected with the COVID-19.

In a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), al-Sayeh said that the epidemiological investigation teams face issues reaching the contacts of some confirmed cases, noting that some contacts shy away from being tested, fail to answer their phone and even provide incorrect contact numbers.

On isolation procedures for contacts of COVID-19 patients, al-Sayeh underlined that they must quarantine themselves as a precautionary measure until the teams arrive to test them, and adhere to home isolation measures such as staying in a separate room with good ventilation, using tissue paper and disposing of them safely, using plastic food equipment, sterilizing surfaces, washing bed linens at a temperature between 60-90 Celsius, and using a wrapped waste bin.

The delay in testing people with positive tests and their contacts, she explained, was due to the recent spike in the number of cases.
