The death of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah

Kuwaiti TV announced, on Tuesday, the death of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, at the age of 91.

The Minister of the Kuwaiti Amiri Diwan, Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, announced in a statement broadcast on Kuwait TV the death of the Emir, who had been treating in the United States of America since last July.

The body of the deceased Emir will arrive in Kuwait on Wednesday from the United States, while the Amiri Diwan announced that attendance at the burial ceremony will be limited to his relatives only, in compliance with safety requirements.

An Amiri decree was issued on July 13, 2003 appointing him Prime Minister, and he assumed the position of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs on October 18, 1992, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs on March 3, 1985.

He was appointed acting Minister of Information in addition to his position as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 4 March 1981 to 9 February 1982, and on February 16 1978 he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister in addition to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

He assumed the position of Acting Minister of Information from February 2, 1971 to February 3, 1975, in addition to his position as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and assumed the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs from January 28, 1963, and continued to hold this position in all governments formed since the independence era As of 20 April 1991.

He was appointed Minister of Guidance and News on January 17, 1962, Chairman of the Department of Social Affairs and Labor and the Department of Publications and Publishing in 1955, and a member of the Organizational Body of the Supreme Council, and a member of the Construction and Development Council.

The Emir, who was born on June 16, 1929, was educated in Kuwaiti schools, and continued his studies at the hands of private professors.
