Temperatures to rise five degrees above average today

Petra// Temperatures recorded today in most parts of the Kingdom are expected to be 5 to 6 degrees higher than their annual average for this time of the year, bringing hot and dry weather with a chance for scattered showers, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

On Thursday, mercury levels will continue to climb 8 to 10 degrees higher than average as the Kingdom remains under the impact of a heat wave, with dry and blazing conditions prevailing nationwide.

A further rise in temperatures is forecast for Friday, when the weather will be extremely hot across the country with moderate easterly winds.

Temperatures in Amman today will hover around 36 degrees during daytime, sliding to 23 at evening hours, while Dead Sea, and the Gulf of Aqaba will see a sweltering 42 degrees during daytime, dropping to 28 at night.
