The Jordanian Olympic Committee recorded a new COVID-19 case among one of its employees, a source told Roya on Sunday.
The Executive Office of the Olympic Committee has extended the suspension of its activities and training for seven days in response to the case, and will resume activities on Sunday.
“Given the epidemiological situation and increase in the number of cases of coronavirus in the Kingdom, the decision comes from the Jordanian Olympic Committee’s concern for the safety of its sports system,” said the Jordanian Olympic Committee in a statement.
“The Olympic Committee will coordinate with the National Committee for Epidemics and Ministry of Health, to review procedures of competing and team training, for the safety of the players, plus the rules of the game specifically and the sports sector in general.”
“The Executive Office of the Olympic Committee affirms the necessity for sports federations to adhere to health procedures issued by the Olympic Committee in order to maintain public safety in the sports sector.”
