US coronavirus death toll surpasses 125,000

The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the United States has surpassed the threshold of 2.5 million, a running tally by the Johns Hopkins University showed.

The death toll from the coronavirus in the US, the world’s most affected country by the pandemic, has exceeded 125,000, nearly one-quarter of the global total, which hit more than 495,000 fatalities, according to the Washington Post.

On the other hand, Florida announced on Saturday that it recorded 9,585 new COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours, indicating a high number of infections, due to the early lifting of isolation procedures.
