China reports 28 new coronavirus deaths

Chinese authorities on Saturday reported 28 new deaths from the coronavirus outbreak, and 99 fresh cases of infection over the past 24 hours.

In a statement, China’s National Health Commission said it received reports from 31 provinces which showed that there are 80,651 confirmed cases of infection, and 3,070 deaths from the disease.

In total, 55,404 patients had been discharged from hospital, the commission added.
