The Kingdom will be affected on Saturday by a cold and wet air mass accompanied by a depression centered over the south of Turkey, pushing thermometers dawn and bringing chilly and cloudy conditions with scattered showers nationwide.
The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) expected heavy rain with thunder and hail in the late night hours, mainly in the northern and central parts of the Kingdom, causing flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, while winds will be westerly brisk, with strong gusts and speeds reaching 50-60 kilometres per hour, blowing dust in the Badia areas.
A further drop in temperatures is expected on Sunday, as it will be cold and cloudy with intermittent rainfall in the western and eastern regions. less rain and slower winds are forecast in the evening, the JMD predicted.
On Monday, mercury levels will rise few degrees, bringing relatively cold weather in most areas of the country, with the exception of the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, where it is expected to be fair, with low-altitude clouds and northwesterly moderate winds, the JMD said.
The highs today will reach 14 degrees Celsius in Amman, 10 in the northern region and 12 in the southern highlands, sliding down to 5, 3 and 2 respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 22 degrees dropping down to 10 at night, the JMD said.
