Coronavirus death toll in China climbs to 2,118

The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in mainland China rose 2,118, China’s National Health Commission reported on Thursday.

The Commission announced it had received 74,576 reports of confirmed cases, noting 16,155 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital.

The novel coronavirus can be transmitted through aerosols if it is highly concentrated in closed rooms and buildings, China’s heath authorities announced.

China’s Health Ministry has published new guidelines for diagnosing and treating patients.
