The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) on Saturday called for a closer and deeper trade relationship between Jordan and India, especially between the private sectors in both countries.
During a meeting with Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom Anwar Halim, ACC President Khalil al-Haj Tawfiq said Jordan’s trade sector wants to establish new partnerships with India and upgrade cooperation with a country that is considered one of the world’s largest economies and Jordan’s fourth top trading partner.
Tawfiq added that the commercial sector also desires to utilize India’s huge potential in the ICT sector and the digital economy to support entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises.
According to an ACC statement, it was agreed that the embassy would provide the chamber with a list of the most important Indian companies interested in cooperation with the Kingdom, especially in the ICT, construction and the automotive and spare parts industries.
Ambassador Halim underlined the importance of establishing a strategic partnership between the two countries in a manner that guarantees the participation of various economic sectors in areas covering ICT, digital transformation, artificial intelligence and modern technologies.
It is noteworthy that the Kingdom’s exports to India during the 11 months of last year amounted to about $635 million compared with $807 million dollars in imports.
