Cold weather remains Tuesday, depression forecast Wednesday

A slight drop in temperatures is expected on Tuesday as relatively cold weather remains in most parts of the country, while it will be pleasant in the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea with low-altitude clouds, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.
Weather will turn colder later at night with low clouds in the northern and central regions and a chance for light showers in the northern areas. Winds will be southwesterly moderate to brisk, blowing dust at times, the JMD added.
On Wednesday, the Kingdom will be affected by a cold and wet air mass, accompanied by a depression centered over Cyprus. Therefore, a tangible drop in temperatures is forecast, bringing cold and cloudy weather with rainfall starting from the northern region and extending to the central and eastern areas.
The downpour is expected to be heavy at times and accompanied by thunder and hail in some areas, which may lead to flood formation in the valleys and low-lying areas. Winds will be southwesterly brisk with strong gusts exceeding 60 kilometers per hour, blowing dust in the southern and eastern areas.
Another dip in temperatures is forecast on Thursday as the impact of the polar front deepen, bringing cold, cloudy weather with heavy rain at times accompanied by thunder and hail, and causing floods in the valleys and low-lying areas. Winds will be southwesterly to brisk with strong gusts reaching 60-80 Km/h, stirring dust in the Badia regions.
Daytime temperatures expected for today will hover around 16 degrees Celsius in Amman and the northern cities, and 13 degrees in the southern cities, dropping down to 5, 7 and 4 respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 24 degrees Celsius and lows standing at 12 degrees at night.
