Jordan, Japan discuss support priorities of next phase

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Wissam Rabadi, on Monday discussed with Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs, Suzuki Keisuke, means of enhancing bilateral development cooperation, as well as the support priorities of the next phase.

Rabadi said Jordan attaches great importance to the strategic relations with Japan, expressing appreciation for the Japanese support and understanding of the economic and social challenges facing Jordan as a result of the repercussions of the regional crises, including the Syrian refugee crisis.

The minister outlined the economic reforms implemented in Jordan within the five-year reform and growth matrix, stressing the importance of working with development partners to support this reform process.

He also reviewed the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis in Jordan, noting that sustaining the Japanese support is important in order to continue providing services to the hosting communities and Syrian refugees.

The Japanese official hailed the two countries’ partnership, stressing Jordan’s pivotal role in achieving peace and stability in the Middle East region, as well as his country’s keenness to help Jordan maintain its economic, security and stability in the most difficult circumstances.
