30,000 settlers storm Hebron’s Ibrahimi mosque

Some 30,000 ultra-orthodox settlers, late Saturday, forced their way into the Ibrahimi Mosque in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, to celebrate the so-called “Sarah” Jewish holiday, according to Palestinian sources.

A statement by the Mosque’s director, Hefthi Abu Sneineh, said that Israeli authorities were deployed across the alleys of the mosque, and closed the area from 4 pm on Friday until 9 pm on Saturday, to secure the settlers’ celebrations.

“These arbitrary measures of occupation affecting houses of worship are flagrant encroachment on religious freedom guaranteed by international laws,” the statement added.
