7 killed, others injured in Paris apartment fire

Seven people have been killed and 28 injured, while 20 people were rescued, in a residential building fire in Paris early morning, according to the French press agency (AFP).

The French capital’s fire service told AFP that firefighters are still working to extinguish the blaze in the eight-storey building.

The city’s fire service spokesman, Clement Cognon, said that the cause of the blaze is not yet known, and the search is still ongoing for other victims.

“Firefighters rescued two dozen people who had fled to the roof or climbed out of windows to escape the flames, and evacuated others from inside,” he added.
