Jordan has maintained its stability and security despite being in a chaotic region with economic challenges that were unfolded due to hosting 1.3 million Syrian refugees, Senator Naif Al-Hadid said.

Addressing the closing session of the Asian Parliament Assembly, Al-Hadid, who led Jordan’s delegation to the assembly in Istanbul, Turkey, also underscored the importance of countering terrorism and extremism, and underlined the Kingdom’s endeavors to bring about peace to the Middle East.

” The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is a huge issue in the region”, Al-Hadid told the gathering and underscored Jordan’s position, which calls to resolve the issue on the basis of the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Established in 2006 in a bid to create an Asian parliament, the assembly is comprised of 42 member Parliaments and 16 observers. This year’s session was inaugurated in Turkey’s Istanbul on November 29 and continued to December 2, with the aim of creating an area of interaction and cooperation among Asian countries.
