Romanian ambassador inaugurates IFRC aid warehouse
Shaheennews –
Romanian ambassador to Jordan, Nicolae Comanescu, on Thursday inaugurated the strategic inventory warehouse for aid supplies of the Jordan’s National Red Crescent Society (IFRC), which was renovated with the support from the Romanian Agency for International Development (RoAid).
This came as a follow-up effort to the visit made by Crown Princess Margareta of Romania to Jordan last year as President of the Romanian Red Cross, during which she discussed prospects of cooperation with the IFRC.
During the opening ceremony, Comanescu stressed the importance of IFRC’s role in serving refugees and local communities affected by the refugee crisis, noting the inauguration of the facility is “the beginning of our cooperation and partnership.”
The Romanian envoy said support and joint projects with the IFRC will continue over the next few years.
For his part, President of the IFRC , Mohammad Hadid, voiced his appreciation for the Romanian support simultaneous with diverse regional developments that need preparedness of the warehouses facilities.
The Romanian and IFRC plan to cooperate in the medical field, Hadid said, adding Romania will provide state-of- the- art medical supplies to detect communicable diseases.
