Visitors to Petra up 27% in September

The number of visitors to the ancient city of Petra in September increased by 27%, compared to the previous year, according to the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA).

The number of visitors last month reached 53,031 tourists, while it stood at 52,573 during the same month in 2017, it said.

PDTRA Chief Commissioner, Falah Omoush, told Petra in an interview that the tourist season hasn’t reached its peak yet, and that the red rose city is expected to receive more visitors of different nationalities.

Omoush said that the ancient city had received 41,886 foreign tourists and 19,189 Jordanian and Arab visitors in the month of September, 2018, compared to 33,034 foreign tourists and 19,189 Jordanian and Arab visitors in the same month of 2017, marking an increase of 27%.
