The Supreme Committee of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts announced that the activities of the thirty-eighth session of the festival will be held from July 24 to August 3.
The director of the Jerash Festival, Ayman Samawi, said in a press statement issued today, Thursday, that the thirty-eighth session of the Jerash Festival will carry the slogan “The Promise Continues.”
Samawi pointed out that the current session, based on this broad title, will be different and distinctive, for two reasons, the first of which is that it coincides with important and pivotal Jordanian national occasions. The second matter, according to Samawi, is the continuation of Jordanian solidarity with our people in Palestine, especially in light of the brutal Israeli aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip, through the festival’s events and activities, which will contain artistic and cultural messages in support of their steadfastness, based on the firm Jordanian position under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah. The second, in this regard, is His Majesty’s tireless efforts to immediately stop the aggression, protect civilians, and ensure the sustainability of humanitarian and relief aid to the Gaza Strip.
Regarding the opening of the festival, Samawi stated that it will include activities and performances that tell the Jordanian national narrative through the pivotal developments that have been achieved in various sectors.
He pointed out that the current session aimed to raise the quorum for culture and arts, and will not include singing concerts in the Southern Theater. The proceeds from entry tickets to the festival will be allocated to the Jordanian Hashemite Charitable Organization, in addition to deducting sums of money from the price of the paintings that will be sold at the Fine Art Exhibition by Arab Artists, in support of its efforts. Relief, especially in the Gaza Strip.
Samawi stressed that the thirty-eighth session of the Jerash Festival will provide employment opportunities for many sectors of the local community, and will work to empower hundreds of community women by selling their products directly to the festival’s patrons and visitors, in addition to hundreds of craftsmen and nearly a thousand participants from all artistic fields. From traditional bands, musical and theatrical groups, and others.
As for the festival’s program, he stated that it will witness the holding of many Palestinian events, at the forefront of which is the “Soul” band coming to the festival from the Gaza Strip, pointing out that this band, which resisted death by singing from the rubble of destroyed homes in the Strip, will stand to sing in front of the festival’s audience, to confirm The inevitability of survival for the people of Gaza and their ability to live and continue despite the horror of war.
Samawi said: “We will witness the active presence of many great artists in the Northern Theater and the main square, including: Omar Al-Abdallat, the Lebanese Marcel Khalifa, the Palestinian Sanaa Moussa, the Lebanese Omaima Al-Khalil, the Lebanese Heba Tawji, Hussein Al-Salman, the Syrians Faya Younan, Saad Abu Tayeh, and Yahya. Sweiss, Rami Shafiq, Diana Karazon, Nidaa Sharara, Egyptian Afaf Radhi, international Jordanian musician Zaid Deraneh, and Lebanese Hiyam Younis.
The artists Ronza, Fadia, and Amani, the artist Aida Al-Amirkani, the artist Issa Al-Saqqar, the maestro Haitham Sukkariyeh, and the Highway Band, will also participate, in addition to the Jordanian Artists Syndicate band performing two celebratory nights, one dedicated to the songs of the star Samira Tawfiq, and the other to the archive of the late star Fares Awad.
25 bands representing the folklore and heritage of their countries are also participating in the festival activities, in addition to many programs and plays concerned with children, in addition to the important participation of the youth sector through the participation of 10 Jordanian universities in the Artemis Theater.
Samawi pointed out the participation of more than forty sister and friendly countries in the festival’s activities this year, including theatre, poetry, and visual art, in cooperation with the Jordanian Artists Syndicate, the Jordanian Writers Association, the Jordanian Writers Union, and the Visual Artists Association, in addition to the 12th Arab Intellectual Conference, which is organized in cooperation. With the Jordanian Philosophical Society, entitled: “Renewing Renaissance Thought”, in which an elite group of Arab thinkers, philosophers and researchers in modern and contemporary Arab thought participate, the Monodrama Festival with Jordanian and Arab participation, and the Flute Forum with Jordanian, Arab and international participation.
Samawi stated that the poetry evenings program will witness the participation of 31 of the most important Arab poets, including: Adonis, Ahmed Al-Shahawi, Ali Al-Fawaz, Dakhil Al-Khalifa, Abdullah Al-Araimi, Abdullah Issa, Hisham Al-Jakh, Iskandar Habash, and 80 poets from Jordan, in addition to a residency. Several forums, including the Fine Arts Forum with the participation of 12 international and 20 Jordanian artists, and the Sculpture Forum with the participation of 12 international and Arab sculptors, and Jordanian sculptors. The Khalil Qandil Short Story Award will also be held in cooperation with the Writers Association.
As part of the cultural program activities, a group of intellectual seminars will be held in Jordanian universities, celebrating the occasion of the silver jubilee. These seminars are directed to students at Jordanian universities throughout the country.
Samawi stated that the festival will witness the establishment of an embassies pavilion with the participation of: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Tunisia, and the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to Jordan, indicating that this pavilion will display the heritage industries in these countries, in addition to their heritage, heritage, and media and architectural products.
Samawi pointed out that the National Exhibition for Creative Cultural Industries is being held on the sidelines of the Jerash Festival, which is organized as part of the festival’s activities, and is one of the most prominent cultural events in the Kingdom, as it gives creative men and women the opportunity to display their creative cultural works and productions, and communicate with a large audience throughout the Kingdom.
He stated that the exhibition will be held next August and will bring together under one roof an elite group of Jordanian creative men and women in various fields such as visual arts, handicrafts, design, multimedia, etc. This event enhances Jordan’s position as a cultural and creative destination in the region, and encourages innovation and sustainable development. In cultural industries.
Samawi called on media representatives to actively participate in covering the activities of the 38th session of the Jerash Festival, which is considered a Jordanian cultural and artistic platform and an incubator for art.
