As part of the activities of the 2nd Ibero-American Cinema Week, organized by the Royal Film Commission, the Mexican film “The Promise” (2018) by the director Oscar Blancart, was screened on Monday. The event was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, international and local organizations, as well as the general public.

The story of the film revolves around Leo, a rebellious child who, even though being very smart, makes life difficult for his teacher, “Profe” (Professor) Cruz, and his schoolmates. Despite his behavior, Leo’s talent makes him stand out from the other students. His grandfather, mother, and “Profe” Cruz will show Leo a world that he will discover through new teachings. In this journey, reading is an essential element of transformation, not only for the child, but for the entire town.

The film participated in many festivals and was nominated for many awards, most notably at the Lyon International Film Festival.
