Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, on Sunday, with British Foreign Minister James Cleverley, on the sidelines of the meetings held by His Majesty King Abdullah during the European tour he began in London on Sunday, to mobilize international support for efforts to stop the violence and war on Gaza, protect civilians, and bring humanitarian aid into the Strip immediately.
“Talks with European officials will focus on the need to stop the violence and war on Gaza, deliver humanitarian aid to Gazans, and protect civilians,” Safadi told an interview with Al Jazeera from London.
He stressed that war will only achieve destruction and killing, and that there is no way to achieve security and peace in the region except by fulfilling the rights of the Palestinian people to their freedom and their state on their national soil.
“His Majesty the King speaks with the voice of truth, with the voice of the Palestinians, the voice of the Arabs, and the voice of humanity, when he says that stopping this war and fulfilling the rights of the Palestinian people, to live in security and peace in their independent and sovereign state on their national territory and with occupied Jerusalem as its capital on the pre-1967 borders, to live in safety and security alongside in Israel is the only way to achieve security and stability for all,” Safadi underlined.
Responding to a question, Safadi said, “the situation in Gaza cannot be tolerated and cannot be accepted. Our voice must reach the whole world clearly, and this is part of efforts led by His Majesty the King is to say: enough killing, enough destruction. Civilians must be protected, aid must be brought in, and the rights of the Palestinian people must be fully met,” Safadi said.
“The Israelis will not obtain security unless the Palestinians obtain their security and rights. Security cannot be divided; it is either for all, or we will see ourselves year after year in cycles of violence and killing, which claim lives of innocent people,” Safadi added.
“Our common human values require condemning the killing of Palestinian civilians, as the world and Arabs condemned the killing of Israeli civilians. The Palestinian is no less human than the Israeli, and this is the message that the world must realize, and that the human and moral standards and values ??should be the same without discrimination on the basis of identity and nationality,”
The Palestinian is no less human than the Israeli,” and this is the message that the world must realize, and that the human and moral standards and values ??should be the same without discrimination on the basis of identity and nationality. Safadi reiterated in his interview and in a BBC interview before that.
“Why cutting off humanitarian, medical and food supplies to Ukraine is a war crime, but in Gaza it is something that is overlooked? not fought? and not described as it should be described? a War Crime,” Safadi wondered.
The spread of war is a real danger that Jordan and the entire region fear. If it materializes, the entire region will fall into war, which will bring nothing but destruction,” Safadi said.
Safadi underlined the need to support the Palestinian people humanly, and said, “It is not permissible for the elderly, children and girls in Gaza to go starving, while they wake up and go to sleep hearing the impact of bombs and missiles.”
Safadi emphasized Jordan’s firm position in rejecting the displacement of Gazans and all Palestinians from their homeland.
“This is a scenario that we will not allow. The memories of 1948 and 1967 are still alive and strong among the refugees and among all of us. We cannot accept the displacement of Palestinians from their land,” Safadi noted.
“We cannot allow migrating the crisis created, exacerbated, and continues to be exacerbated by the Israeli occupation to neighboring countries. Displacement, transfer, and pushing the Palestinians from their homes will not happen again, and we will confront that with all our capabilities,” the foreign minister underscored.
In addition, Safadi discussed in phone calls with his counterparts efforts to stop the war and deliver aid, including Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shukry, and Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
In London, Safadi also held talks with Britain’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, Labor Party MP, David Lammy.
