Skywatchers in Jordan anticipate rare Blue Moon appearance

The celestial canvas above Jordan’s landscapes is poised to showcase the captivating phenomenon of the emergence of a Blue Moon.
Ala’a Azam, Assistant Professor in Physics at the University of Jordan, elucidated that this term, contrary to popular belief, does not imply that the lunar orb will assume a blue shade.
A Blue Moon, as explained by Azam, denotes a unique occurrence when a full moon graces the sky twice within the span of a single month. This celestial event further manifests when the full moon illuminates the night sky on four separate occasions during a solitary season. In both scenarios, the last instance of the full moon is crowned with the appellation “Blue Moon”.
Clarifying the particulars of this forthcoming celestial event, Azam articulated that the lunar spectacle occurred on the first day of the ongoing month, with its encore performance scheduled at the month’s conclusion. Ergo, the forthcoming full moon is earmarked to bear the title of the Blue Moon.
Notably, during this astronomical juncture, the moon will grace Jordan’s skies from its closest proximity to Earth, an occurrence colloquially dubbed the “Supermoon”.
