NARC conducts training to Eritrean Engineers on Tissue Culture Techniques

The Director General of the National Agricultural Research Center “NARC”, Dr. Nizar Haddad, confirmed the endeavor of NARC to train agricultural engineers from friend countries, indicating that NARC has become a destination for many countries for knowledge & scientific expertise transfer to their countries, as well as through NARC research stations in various environmental ecosystems spread throughout all governorates of Jordan in which agricultural research is conducted in various agricultural fields, especially in the field of modern technologies that help find quick solutions to the challenges facing the agricultural sector and achieve sustainable development.

Dr. Iyad Musallam, Director of Biotechnology Research Directorate said that NARC in collaboration with Jordan Date Association (JODA) have conducted a training for agricultural engineers from Eritrea on “Modern Techniques used in Crop Multiplication and Methods for Genetic Improvement”.

Musallam asserted that this training comes in the frame of joint collaboration with friend countries to transfer knowledge and expertise to those countries. He added that Biotechnology Directorate is making significant efforts in technology transfer where more than 30 engineers, in the last six months, have received intensive training on agricultural biotechnology; in addition to scientific visits for laboratories at NARC organized for more than 200 visitors, briefed on services presented, including genetic screening, seeds’ testing and plant multiplication by using tissue culture techniques.
