Ambassador explores Doha International Book Fair in cultural exchange

Jordanian Ambassador in Doha, Zaid Al-Lawzi, late Tuesday, joined Qatari Minister of Culture, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, on a tour at the Doha International Book Fair. The tour was organized by the Qatari Ministry of Culture and was exclusively designed for accredited diplomatic missions in Qatar.
During the engagement, Ambassador Al-Lawzi had the opportunity to delve into the literary treasures on display, including valuable manuscripts, as well as explore noteworthy recent publications from various fields, which were presented by both Arab and foreign publishers participating in the event.
The ambassador also made visits to several prominent pavilions, including Jordan’s Ministry of Culture pavilion and the Expo Doha 2023 pavilion. Additionally, he took the time to visit the Saudi Arabian pavilion, which held the status of honored guest at the exhibition. Throughout his tour, Al-Lawzi was also familiarized with a range of cultural activities accompanying the fair, including special events tailored for children.
In remarks following the tour, the Ambassador emphasized the significant role of the Doha International Book Fair as a platform for publishers to showcase their latest releases and literary creations, effectively highlighting the rich cultural offerings. He further noted that the fair consistently observes a noticeable annual increase in the participation of countries and publishers, underscoring its growing prominence in the literary world.
Expressing his delight, Al-Lawzi celebrated Qatar’s forthcoming status as the guest of honor at the Amman International Book Fair. The fair, scheduled for September, promises extensive participation from Arab and international entities, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and literature.
Under the theme “Elevating through Reading,” the Doha International Book Fair serves as a gathering place for over 500 publishers coming from 37 Arab and foreign countries. With its diverse range of offerings and engaging activities, the fair plays a key role in promoting literary culture and fostering international cooperation within the publishing industry.
