Cold, rainy weather to prevail Monday

Cold, cloudy, and rainy weather conditions are expected to persist on Monday as the Kingdom remains under the impact of the cold and humid air mass accompanied by a depression, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.
Rainfall is expected to be heavy with thunder and hail at times, causing flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, while winds will be northwesterly brisk, blowing dust in the Badia, the JMD added.
The weather service issued alerts about flash floods in valleys and lowlands including the Dead Sea, slick roads in the areas experiencing rain, and poor horizontal visibility in the Badia and the highlands due to dust and dense fog.
On Tuesday, mercury levels will rise again a few degrees but remain slightly below the annual average. Therefore, it will be cold and partly cloudy with a chance for scattered showers and northwesterly moderate to active winds, the JMD noted.
A further rise in mercury is expected on Wednesday, bringing pleasant weather in the highlands and the plains, and warm conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, with low clouds and westerly moderate winds.
Today, temperatures in the capital Amman will range between a high of 11 degrees Celsius and a low of 5C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 24C, sliding to 14C at night.
