The impact of the cold and wet air mass accompanied by a depression centered over Cyprus will deepen on Sunday, pushing temperatures sharply down and bringing cold and cloudy weather with spotty showers in the northern and central regions, forecasters said.

According to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), rainfall is expected to be heavy with thunder and hail at times, extending later to cover other areas of the country. Winds will be westerly brisk, blowing dust in the Badia.

Additionally, the weather service issued alerts about flash floods in valleys and lowlands, slick roads in the areas experiencing rain, and poor horizontal visibility in the Badia and the highlands due to dust and dense fog.

Cold, cloudy, and rainy weather conditions will persist on Monday, with heavy downpours in the western region, while winds will be northwesterly active, stirring up dust in the desert, the JMD added.

On Tuesday, mercury levels will rise again, but remain 3-4 degrees below the annual average. Therefore, it will be relatively cold and partly cloudy with a chance for scattered showers, the department noted.

Today, temperatures in the capital Amman will range between a high of 13 degrees Celsius and a low of 4C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 22C, sliding to 13C at aa night.
