Depression forecast to bring rain Monday

Jordan will be affected on Monday by a cold and wet air mass accompanied by a depression centered over Egypt’s northern coasts, pushing temperatures down and bringing cold and cloudy weather with intermittent showers in various regions, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

Heavy downpours with thunderstorms and hail at times are forecast in the southern highlands, including the Gulf city of Aqaba, and the northeastern Badia area.

The weather department warned of flash floods in the valleys and lowlands, poor horizontal visibility over the highlands due to heavy fog, and slippery roads in areas experiencing rain.

Over the next three days, the weather will be cold in much of the country, except in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba where it will be pleasant, with clouds at various altitudes, with southeasterly moderate to active winds at times.

Temperatures in the capital Amman today will range between a high of 13 degrees Celsius and a low of 3C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 20C, sliding to 10C at night.
