CBJ: New banknotes won’t feature new denominations

The Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) on Monday announced that the denominations of a prospective new issue of the Jordanian banknotes (the 5th issue) are the same as those of the currently in circulation (4th issue) (50 dinars, 20 dinars, 10 dinars, 5 dinars, and 1 dinar) and that they can be used interchangeably.
It is worth noting that the Cabinet approved a bylaw for the issuance of new Jordanian banknotes on Sunday.
The Central Bank has stated that the goals of the new issuance are to keep pace with advancements in cash printing, incorporate most up-to-date security features into the national banknotes, and increase their lifespan and quality.
Like the current banknotes, the new issuance’s base material will be cotton, the CBJ said.
