Al-Azhar slams Indian ruling party spokesperson’s blasphemous remarks against Prophet

Al-Azhar has condemned blasphemous remarks made by a spokesperson for India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against the Prophet Muhammad and his wife, Lady Aisha.

In a statement, Al-Azhar, a leading Sunni Muslim religious institution based in Egypt, described such remarks as an open call to extremism, hatred, and religious strife.

“Only promoters of extremism, backers of hatred and sedition, and foes of dialogue between adherents of different faiths, civilizations, and cultures produce such statements,” the statement stated.
