767,000 people registered for electricity tariff subsidy-EMRC

The total number of accounts registered on the website to benefit from the subsidised electricity tariff for the domestic sector as of Sunday morning had reached 767k out of a total 3,919 people who visited the site, the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) on Saturday announced.

According to EMRC’s data, Jordanians wishing to benefit from the subsidised tariff constituted 98.66 per cent, while the number of registered people from the Gaza Strip residing in Jordan reached 1.25 per cent and temporary Jordanian passport holders stood at 0.09 percent.

To date, the website received 2, 015 remarks, inquiries and complaints, of which 1,883 were addressed. The process of handling the remaining 135 complaints is underway, EMRC said.

EMRC called on those targeted beneficiaries to register on the website kahraba.gov.jo, stressing that the new tariff will enter into force as of next April 1.
